Ascendo coffee is a coffee shop based in San Luis Obispo. We began with the idea of making the world a better place through our business. This idea is still the heart of our vision. We are truly humbled by all the beautiful relationships we have formed in our community.

We fell down the rabbit whole of roasting coffee in 2014 and haven’t looked back since. It is the cornerstone of our passion for coffee. We have spent countless hours experimenting with roast profiling and rebuilding and modifying our roasters. We are confident in our ability roast specialty coffee consistently well.

In 2015, we moved from our tiny hole in the wall to a 2800 sq ft building two doors down from our original shop. We did all the construction ourselves with the help of friends and family. It was an amazing and humbling experience to build something from the ground up with the help of the community we helped bring together.

In 2017, we changed our name to Ascendo Coffee. Ascendo Coffee! Same people, same values, same coffee! Ascendo means “I rise” in latin. Our whole journey can be described as rising up from the little we had when we started. And we certainly couldn’t rise every morning without our coffee!
